There is no honest single price for “a Pakistani wedding in the UK”. A nikah lunch for forty and a three-event celebration for six hundred are not versions of the same purchase. Start with the decisions that multiply everything else: guest count, number of hosted events, city, date and service level.

Create one comparable event brief

Send venues and caterers the same date, guest number, timings, ceremony needs, menu shape and service expectation. Ask whether VAT is included. A venue quote without tables, security, cleaning or corkage cannot be compared with an inclusive package by reading the final line.

Budget lineScope to capture
VenueHire hours, setup, furniture, security, cleaning, VAT
CateringGuest minimum, staff, crockery, drinks, tasting, leftovers
ClothesGarments, duties, delivery, fittings, alterations, care
PhotographyHours, team, travel, albums, delivery and usage rights
DécorDesign, labour, transport, venue access and removal

Budget by commitment date

Record deposit, instalments, final balance and cancellation terms beside every supplier. The cash-flow calendar can become difficult months before the wedding even when the total appears affordable. Keep signed scope and receipts; custom services are harder to untangle when decisions live only in messages.

  1. Fix a total the household can spend without relying on hoped-for gifts.
  2. Reserve contingency before allocating décor or upgrades.
  3. Cost each additional guest using food, seating and venue thresholds.
  4. Choose which event carries the greatest production value; not every ceremony needs identical scale.

The strongest saving is often subtraction: one fewer event, a smaller guest list or a shorter supplier day. Negotiate scope clearly rather than asking a small business to absorb invisible labour. A realistic budget protects the marriage from beginning with a bill nobody fully read.

Compare revisions line by line. When a supplier lowers the total, record whether hours, staff, portions or deliverables changed. A discount created by removing service is a new scope, not the same package at a better price. Put family-funded additions through the same budget so generosity does not create an obligation nobody costed.
